Commonbond Groundbreaking January 16th, 2020

Commonbond Gateway Project broke ground on Thursday, January 16th, 2020 with special guests Mayor Jacob Frey, Council Member Steve Fletcher, and Council Member Kevin Reich.

The new Gateway Northeast housing community will bring 128 affordable, mixed-income apartment units to the Arts District.

Construction is estimated to be completed February, 2021. More information can be found at commonbond.org/gatewayne.

CANCER AND ASTHMA PREVALENCE STUDY

Randomly selected residents will receive a survey in the mail to measure the prevalence of cancer and asthma in the Lowry Bridge area.

You may complete and return the survey in one of three ways:

1. In person with a researcher at your door
2. By mail
3. Online, using the address on the survey

Family Pumpkin Carving!

Need some Halloween decorations? Come down to Bottineau Park for an afternoon and carve some pumpkins with your family. Pumpkin Carving will be held in the multi-purpose room! Open gym will also be held in the gym.

Pumpkins and carving materials will be provided by the Bottineau Neighborhood Association, Sentyrz Market, and the Northeast Kiwanis.

Bottineau Neighborhood Association (BNA) is asking that residents, business owners, workers, artists and landlords in Bottineau Neighborhood fill out a survey to give the BNA board of directors guidance on how the community wishes to make Bottineau an even better place to live, work and play. Feb 6th:  INSECT ID/MNGT

Improve your growing skills through increased knowledge of insect and pest management. Learn proper Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies. This workshop will contain in-class lectures and hands-on activities. Beginning to Advance Farmers and Growers welcome.  Dr. Ribbing will be there to answer all your insect questions.

Feb. 20: WEED ID/MNGT

Improve our growing skills through increased knowledge of weed identification and management. Learn proper organic pesticide selection, safe application and handling. This workshop will contain in-class lectures with hands-on activities. Beginning to Advanced Farmers & Growers welcome. Dr. Ribbing will be there to answer all your weed questions.

Dr. Loretta Ortiz-Ribbing, WEI Faculty and Consultant, is a former research scientist with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture; Extension Specialist with the University of Illinois; and Assistant Professor of Crop Science with the University of Wisconsin in River Falls where she taught courses such as Organic Production Systems, Sustainable Agriculture, Weed Control and Integrated Pest Management.   Her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois is in Crop Sciences, specializing in Plant Pathology.  She has many years of previous research, extension, and teaching experience and has publications related to IPM for agronomic and horticultural crops, developing bioherbicides, and other plant and microbe interactions.
