Taste of Northeast

The deadline for vendors has been extended beyond Sept 1st for the Taste of Northeast Marketplace, which will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2016.

The Marketplace will be located outside of the parish center in the parking lot from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm at Saint Mary’s Orthodox Cathedral (1701 – 5th Street NE MPLS 55413). Click here for more details

A Common Thread 2017

A Common Thread annually showcases the exceptional work of Textile Center members. This non-juried exhibition gives every Textile Center member an opportunity to exhibit their recent work in Textile Center galleries. For more info, click on the following link:

Call for Art – Inspired by Nature

This is an open call for submissions of 2-D and 3-D artworks to create a web-based art donation program for works that will become part of the permanent collection at the Minnesota Veterans Home – Minneapolis (MVH-Mpls). This call is open to artists in Minnesota, or artists with Minnesota roots that work in any and all visual 2-D or 3-D media. Applications can be sent via email or USPS and must be timestamped no later than midnight September 15, 2016. Click on the following link for more information:

Art-in-Ed Artist’s Book Residency Grant

The Art-in-Education Artist’s Book Grant is an eight- to ten-week residency awarded to two emerging artists to create a new artist’s book and teach young people. Postmark Deadline: November 15, 2016. Click here for more details.

 

Call for Art: Northeast Art Calendar

The deadline for art submissions for the 5th Annual Northeast Arts Calendar is October 8th at 6 PM. The calendar is produced and distributed by the Northeast Community Development Corporation (NECDC). Artists should send in works that represent one or more of the 14 Northeast Neighborhoods with an address or clearly defined location that inspired the work. (See map at bottom). Neighborhoods include:  St. Anthony West, St. Anthony East, Beltrami, Mid-City Industrial, Northeast Park, Logan Park, Sheridan, Bottineau, Holland, Windom Park, Audubon Park, Waite Park, Columbia Park, and Marshall Terrace.

Artists will be paid $50.00 per each work selected and the artist’s work that is chosen for the calendar’s cover will be paid $250.00. Artwork must be formatted in 300 dpi and submitted electronically to [email protected]. Click here for a printable flyer (pdf).

New this year:  Northeast Neighborhood residents, artists and business owners are encouraged to attend the art selection open house at East Side Neighborhood Services (1700 2nd St NE) on October 15th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.  Highest ranked artworks will be used in the calendar. Snacks and beverages provided.

Don’t miss this unique, prestigious opportunity to have your artwork included in Wintertide, our inaugural juried art exhibition taking place at contemporary art gallery Public Functionary. All applicants must have either renewed their membership for 2015 or joined NEMAA by the Wintertide application deadline: December 10, 2014. Join or renew here.

An entry fee of $35 (for submission of up to 3 works of art) is required, and the artist must be a NEMAA member for the year 2015. Each accepted artist will have one piece of artwork in the exhibition. The jury process will include 2 rounds. The application materials must be submitted online per the submission guidelines and instructions by December 10 for the first round of blind jurying.

Juried Biennial Exhibitions are an important instigator in the discovery of exceptional work of emerging, mid-career and established artists based on a competitive jury process. In addition to selecting the artists in the Biennial, the jurors will award a total of $10,500 in cash prizes that will be presented at the opening reception, Saturday, January 24th.

  3. Painting & Drawing (artwork includes only one medium – including printmaking if artist uses only ink)

  • 2nd Round jury selections: January 14 and January 15
  • 2nd Round Artist Notification: January 17
  • Opening Reception/Prizes Awarded: Saturday, January 24, 7 PM – 11 PM
  • Exhibit Dates/Hours: January 24 – February 7, 2015
